About our speaker:
Marc Havig, DVM, DACVS is currently a staff surgeon at The Animal Medical Center, and the interim Chair of The Department of Surgery. He obtained his veterinary degree Cum Laude from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Havig completed his residency in small animal surgery at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Athens, GA in 2005 and received his board certification in surgery in 2006. Dr. Havig specializes in orthopedic surgery and has a special interest in canine sports-related injuries.

Just as with their two legged friends, cats like people can experience serious health problems related to obesity. This seminar will provide information on how to keep your cat slim and provide nutritional tips and exercises for owners to do with their favorite felines.

She completed a residency in Internal medicine in 2002 at The AMC and obtained her board certification in Internal Medicine in 2004. In the case of a pet health emergency, time is of the essence. This lecture will help pet owners act fast by providing tips for pre-planning, basic CPR technique and the essentials for creating a home first aid kit.
About our speaker:

Andrea Monnig, DVM graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She completed her internship at The Animal Medical Center in 2008 and is now a resident in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. She is dedicated to the people and the pets of New York during their greatest times of need. Dr. Monnig’s special interests in her field include management of the trauma patient, post-operative surgical patient and nutrition in the critically ill.

She has been the behavior columnist for Dog Fancy and The New York Dog magazines as well as a contributing writer for the AKC Gazette, Modern Dog and numerous other publications.
She currently appears on Animal Planet's shows Underdog to Wonderdog, Dogs101, and Cats101. She was the trainer for The Pet Department, FX's Emmy award winning daily show and appears regularly on The Today Show. Her appearances also include 20/20, Dateline NBC, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Live with Regis & Kelly, The View, CBS News, CNN, Fox, PBS, Fox News, and Lifetime, as well as numerous radio shows. Andrea has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Animal Haven.
Andrea is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers as well as a Certified Pet Partners Team evaluator for the Delta Society and the AKC's Canine Good Citizen test. She is the director of Andrea Arden Dog Training, and was named the best dog trainer in New York by New York, W, Time Out and Quest magazines as well as the Daily News.
